Hilton is a great place to retire. A wonderful, expert custom home builder is H2 owned by Todd Hawk. But Charelston is a nicer place to retire.

Weddings in Charleston, SC

I have heard a number of different things regarding weddings held here in Charleston,SC. Some say it is the number 1 destination for weddings in the country. Other say number 2 or 3. Whatever the stats, there is no doubt that Charleston is a spectacular destination for your wedding.

Climate is clearly an advantage for weddings. Charleston's summers are a bit to steamy for a comfortable wedding, but from September to late November and then from March to May the weather is delightful. Wedding venues come in all varieties. Free-flowing beachside events are loads of fun. Or for the more formal affair, Charleston boasts some of the most posh and classy venues in the country.

Catering vendors are very good in Charleston. Many of the venues offer on-site catering service, or one of the many local culinary experts can handle your wedding day treats.

Charleston is a community of wonderful artists. This included talented and professional photographers. Find a top quality wedding photographer in Charleston is not difficult. Although the best ones do get booked up to one and half years in advanced.

Historic Mansions in Charleston, SC

The array of mansions in Charleston SC speaks the wealth and power that this little southern charmer once enjoyed. Built on the back of slave labor, local plantation owners and merchants amassed huge fortunes, built huge homes and left a bitter sweet legacy. Once the wealthiest city in America, Charleston's historic homes are a joy to see and visit.

Today tourists to the area can enjoy both the history and the modern lively society that is Charleston, SC. The many of the historic homes in downtown have been purchased by wealthy families from outside the area. Most have been restored with modern amenities, and some have been partitioned to become condominiums.

Restaurants in Charleston, SC

Charleston Seafood Report
Charleston SC has a variety of very high quality restaurants to choose from. Seafood is of course a staple of the local Charlestonians. Hanks Seafood Restaurant is my favorite. Delightfully lively atmosphere, satisfying cuisine and helpful, friendly professional service. Love it!

A Good Steak is Not Hard To Find
Charleston has a host of great steak restaurants. I personally don't think that cooking a tastey steak very difficult, and therefor the $40 price tag for a filet at some places seems too high. Having said that, the ambience of some Charleston restaurants can go a long way to making the steak dinner really a pleasant experience. I would rather eat downtown and pay 20% more for the food, than sit in a strip mall somewhere and feel like I got a good deal. Walking out of a restaurant into a big parking lot can be a bummer.

So, where do we find charm, high quality steak and fixin's as well as top-quality service? Hands down, it's got to be High Cotton on East Bay Street, Charleston, SC. This classic Charleston in plantation style is a winner.

Charleston Still Hot

Steamy October Nights

Here's an idea for a website: Photos of steamy, Charleston homes at night. Garden tours are great. But isn't much better to be wondering home with a bit of a buzz late at night. You had fun. You were on your game. The night is not young and neither are you. The sidewalks are uneven, but it makes the adventure a bit more challenging, and bit more fun. Oh yeah ya'll! It's a good time.

Charleston, SC at night is spellbinding. The air is sweet, and the home are oddly cozy given the hot, humid weather. Charleston, Charlestowne, Charleston Towne, Charleston Town, Charlie, Chuck. What?

Charleston in October

After a short burst of cool air at the start of October, we are now having more seasonal weather here in Charleston, SC. That is, things are pretty hot and steamy considering the time of year. As Halloween draws near, neighborhoods are decorated and pumpkins sit on porches hoping they won't rot and sag too much before the 31st.

The general mood in town seems quite mellow. Maybe it is the calm before the mega party time of Halloween. The College of Charleston girls are preparing the appropriate underwear for the evening and the boys are resting up for the occasion. I think there is also a school break on. So things are a little quite.

The Red Sox are playing the Indians in the playoffs, but there is not much buzz about it in Charleston. A cool little pub named Dunleavy's seems to be a serious Red Sox enclave. The best news about the mild weather is tennis. The evenings bring the perfect conditions for a couple of quick sets and some domestic cans. The courts by Colonial Lake have been pretty empty. But the place needs some maintenance. For a couple of months now, there has been a court under repair. It is sorely needed on the crowded nights. The tennis scene is Charleston is fantastic. The only drawback is that is hard to win a match with so many skilled players around! If there is no room at Colonial Lake, we kick it over to the Jack Adams courts. The lights are actually better there, and the crowd is usually older and less wild. This area of Charleston is great. Tucked in right next to the newly renovated Citadel Stadium, there are a number of neat homes and some great public tennis courts. Like all of Downtown Charleston, this neighbor real estate is getting more and more expensive.

The price of homes in Charleston is way up. They have now flattened off. Even the hype about how Charleston will grow out of control can't get buyers into town. It is a wait and see market at the moment, and it is likely to stay that way for a while.
